– Sold OutDioraltye Sachets have been used for generations to rehydrate and rebalance salt intake when illness or infection affects diet.
Contain rehydration salts, which consist of sugar (glucose) and electrolytes (sodium chloride, potassium chloride and disodium hydrogen citrate). They are used to replace body fluids lost as a result of acute diarrhoea, with or without vomiting or in times of extra stress on the body such as high endurance sports and exercise, heat stroke and helps rehydrate after a hangover.
To Use: Dissolve one sachet in a full 200ml glass of water and drink or sip frequently ( if vomiting is also present).
A basic principle of treatment of diarrhoea is to replace lost fluid and electrolytes and then to maintain sufficient fluid intake to replace fluid loss from stools. The amount of reconstituted Dioralyte administered should be adapted to the age and weight of the patient and the stage and severity of the condition.
Infants up to the age of 2: Infants under the age of 2 years with diarrhoea should be seen by a physician as soon as possible. One to one and a half times the usual 24 hour feed volume. Breastmilk should not be withheld, the Dioraltye volume should be given first then the baby put to the breast until satisfied.
Children: One sachet dissolved in 200ml of water after every loose motion.
Adults (including the elderly): One or two sachets after every loose motion. Each sachet should be dissolved in 200ml of water.
More may be required initially to ensure early and full volume repletion.
